FIRST Competition Builds Robots & Character

We’ve been following the progress of the RoboBlazers as they journey through the FIRST Robotics Competition. Two weekends ago, the RoboBlazers participated in their second tournament in the FIRST Indiana Robotics District. Having ranked 33 in the first tournament, the team knew they were in for a challenge in the highly competitive second event.

The four days between tournaments weren’t for resting — the team worked hard to prepare, and it showed! With a score that included alliance partners, they started low in the rankings on the tournament’s first day. But, the RoboBlazers maintained their passion and determination, winning their way to ranking 11th by the end of the second tournament

Ranking 8th seed alliance captain in the playoffs, the RoboBlazers got to choose the other two teams that played in their alliance. Over the course of the playoffs, the Roboblazers’ alliance beat both the 1st and 2nd seed alliances before ultimately being eliminated and placing 3rd at the tournament.

Support & Sportsmanship for Competitors

For the RoboBlazers, it’s not all about winning. It’s about having fun, working hard, and helping all teams to do their best. They demonstrated their support for the robotics community by loaning two cameras to another team to fix their robot — one they would compete against later in the day!

Next Up, the State Tournament!

The RoboBlazers were thrilled to be among the top 38 teams from the FIRST Indiana Robotics District invited to compete at the State Tournament. The big event is happening this weekend, April 5 - April 7. You can watch a live broadcast of the FIRST tournament on Twitch.
