Highlights from a Feature on MCC’s Components & Services
Recently featured in Everything PE after an in-depth interview, MCC’s TH Koay, Product Marketing Director, and Roberto Pérez Islas, FAE Manager, elaborated on the company’s innovative strategies and significant role in the semiconductor industry.
Here are some of the key topics discussed during the interview:
Diverse Discrete Semiconductor Offerings
MCC specializes in high-quality discrete semiconductors that serve a wide range of industries, including automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics. The company is recognized for its commitment to producing reliable components such as diodes, MOSFETs, voltage regulators, and protection devices.
Koay and Pérez Islas emphasized that MCC’s IDM model ensures complete control over the semiconductor manufacturing process, ensuring high quality and efficiency from chip design to fabrication.
Automotive Sector Focus
One of our core focus markets is automotive, which currently represents 25% of our product portfolio. Both leaders expressed their intention to expand this portfolio further, particularly with automotive-grade products that meet stringent AEC-Q101 qualifications.
They noted that among their diverse product range, TVS and diodes form the largest segment due to their extensive applications across various industries.
Advanced Technologies
Our experts also expressed excitement about the advancements in power management technologies that make MOSFETs MCC’s fastest-growing segment in automotive and other markets.
Memorable product discussions focused on advanced MOSFET technologies, with innovations that leverage features like low on-resistance and favorable Figure of Merit (FOM) values to dramatically enhance efficiency and thermal performance in demanding applications. These MOSFETs enable more compact designs to support modern power management needs while reducing conduction and switching losses.
Another area of focus in the interview was our advanced ESD protection solutions. Safeguarding sensitive electronic components from electrostatic discharge, these components feature low clamping voltage to minimize damage during ESD events while enhancing overall device reliability.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, MCC is poised to enhance its global supply chain with a new production facility in Vietnam. With a focus on producing various package types for TVS and rectifiers, this facility will increase manufacturing capacity and improve response times to customer demands. The first phase of production is expected to launch in 2025, followed by further expansions in 2026.
As for 2024, Koay and Pérez Islas confirmed MCC will launch several new solutions, particularly in the MOSFET and ESD protection categories. This proactive approach to innovation ensures that MCC remains a key discrete supplier while adapting to evolving customer needs.
